I have always been the entrepreneurial type. When I was younger I would buy a big sack of fish crackers and repack it to sell to sari sari stores ( a sort of mom and pop shop) in our neighborhood. When I was in elementary – I sold some hair accessories at school to my friends. And while in my teens, I became the youngest Avon Lady in our place.
At this moment, my home business are my sites but I am still not satisfied. With the global warming, I was wondering if it’s possible to earn money while making a difference in our world …
Our planet needs help but we humans are too spoiled with the luxuries we have come to get used to – that sometimes I think this is a lost case.
We should start acting now and do something about it. Of course nobody can be a hundred percent green. Any single step we do is worth something.
Like for example, I try to use my reusable bags when I do my groceries. For businesses, plastic bags are cheap way of packing stuff – that’s a fact. And another fact is – it’s also a pain in the ass for our ecosystem. We should try to eliminate the use of plastic bags.
In some countries, use of plastic bags is discouraged. In Holland, you have to bring your own bag at all times. If you happen to forget to bring one, you can either try to find a box they put in one corner of the store to put your groceries or if you really need a bag, you can buy one for 0.20 eur cents ( from what I recall ).
In Singapore, you are encouraged to Bring your Own Bag on Wednesdays. Not a lot are participating in this drive and that’s a pity. Maybe the groceries here in Singapore can also follow what they do in Holland.
Anyway, I think a green business will thrive well in this times but I am still trying to explore and find out more about Going Green Home Based Business Opportunities – one idea that I have is to manufacture reusable bags – I know it’s not really very original but mine would have a Filipino touch.
I don’t wanna give to many details for now, you’ll just hear about it when it’s ready.
Anyway, if you are in the USA and If you are looking for information on going green home business, head over to the company profile of EcoQuest international, the country’s fast-rising supplier of air purification products. You can also find the profile of EcoQuest here.

Jade, so good to know that you are into helping save nature. There many people here in Palawan who do not value the blessings that God has given them. The bounty of Palawan will soon be depleted if each one does not do their part. I believe to start changing for the better, one should start with himself.

@ Johnray – true we need to act now or it will be too late. In Palawan, some people don’t realize what they are doing like char coaling is very bad for our environment….they need to be educated about this things. They say they do it because they don’t have any alternative …
Bringing your own bag to the shops to save on plastic bags is something we alwasy do. And it saves money as you haved to pay for them in some shops! We wait with baited breath for your green news to come.

@ Martin – Yeah they should do that everywhere huh so everybody would be forced to bring their own bags. I hope to launch the green business too soon.
Hi Jade,
yup, I have a post brewing about plastic bags and how they are thoughtlessly used in Malaysia with no regard to the implications on the environment, vs what Switzerland (and I assume most of Europe) does: bring your own bag.
btw – I’ve added you to my blogroll – see “expat” section
