After days of seemingly endless downpour, the sun is finally up. I guess my “sun dance” worked. Now, I am able to go back to doing the things I love to do: photography and gardening (not necessarily in that order). I’m also seriously considering doing some intricate beadwork with the use of a metal punch.

Taking on a new hobby is always a welcome respite from the humdrum of daily life. Doing anything new is simply refreshing- whether it’s planting a new kind of plant in your garden, or capturing the minutest animal in a macro shot. The novelty of things never fails to uplift one’s weary soul.

And then, when you go back to your daily chores, you feel more refreshed. I, for one, feel that I suddenly have a different perspective on things after indulging in a new hobby.

It’s rainy season in the Philippines but today the sun is up and shining. I was able to work a tiny bit in the garden with the help of my little gardener Jenelyn while Sean took a nap.

I am not really a fan of the rain, I am more of a sun person. I only feel depress when it rains. You could hardly do anything outside plus it can get a bit chilly here (and I am not much fan of a cold weather too) where we live but not that cold to get a fireplace with fireplace inserts and all the shebang.

My brother was here for a couple of weeks to help me out with Sean. They had a great time together. There were times when Sean would cry when he sees his uncle going away. His vacation is over and the other day we brought him to Puerto Princesa because he had an early flight the next day. Sean has been cranky lately, I don’t know if it’s because he’s teething or because he misses his uncle.

Sometimes when I look at my brother, I cannot help but smile. Why? Because I see that he is now maturing a little bit. He still needs to grow a lot but he’s on the right direction. He’s in his early 20′s, for now he won’t be needing to use an immediate annuity calculator but that time will come and I keep telling him he needs to start getting his act together as life won’t be always giving him ready made lemonade, he should know how to make it himself.

I have never mentioned this to you before but we have a very irritating and annoying housemates. They are inconsiderate and doesn’t have any class – they just poop on the floor and don’et even clean up after themselves. They shout all the time which sometimes wakes up my baby. We try to get rid of them but it’s quite difficult as we are afraid they’ll bite us.

Do you know what they are?  They are called toko here, tokay gecko in english. Our people in the farm are terrified by it because they believe that its feet can tear your skin but they also have much respect for it because it eats dangerous pests such as scorpions and giant centipedes.

Sean is super active. We co sleep and  there are times when he would wake up before we are awake like 3 am or something. Sometimes he would play by himself, pull our hair and noses, talk, ride us and use us as an obstacle course .

For now he just stays inside our mosquito net but I am afraid when he gets a bit bigger that he will try to go out to play by himself if he gets bored.

I am already thinking of buying and installing trail cameras on our surroundings in case he wanders by himself, we would still be able to find him by looking at the cameras. Maybe you are thinking, I am exaggerating but as every parent, I love my baby to bits and I wouldn’t want anything bad happen to him.

Grocery shopping used to be my favorite errand to do when we were in Singapore. I love supermarkets where you can buy everything you need. But after moving here to Palawan, this has become my least favorite thing to do. One of the many reasons is because when I need something, most of the time they don’t have it- it’s OUT OF STOCK. Another reason is that it takes forever to go to the town because the roads here are terrible. Most roads here are rough road and it hardly passable especially when it’s raining. And when we go and buy stuff we have to make sure we do it in the morning because it’s difficult to be in the road in the dark, you always have to have Off Road Lights with you as you don’t know what might happen.

I have always had this knack for organizing things around the house. Just last night, as everybody else was already tucked in bed, I still found myself up and about, putting things in their proper place. I started off with arranging my old collection of custom pins.

And then, I moved on to sorting out my son’s toys. Call it an obsessive complusion, but I guess I get a certain kind of adrenaline rush whenever I am able to organize things. I derive a sense of pleasure knowing that everything around me is in perfect order. I think it will be ok if this trait rubbed off on my son. What do you think?

… that’s what we have been telling our 2 1/2 years old Samsung t.v. a few weeks ago. It was acting up and we thought it was  going leave us soon. We were so worried because as you know, we live in the island of Palawan. There’s not a lot of place here to shop for electronics let alone LCD tvs like what we have. Hubby read up a little bit about the problems our television was showing and luckily he found a solution. And our dear Samsung tv is as good as new again. I am glad hubby is so good in finding solutions.

Do you still remember your high school days? I do especially when I watch Glee, it reminds me of those days; full of fun and drama. I can still remember the first day of high school. I was new to the school and I didn’t know a single soul. I was a bit nervous and yet very excited to get to know my new classmates. It didn’t take long till I made friends with my classmates.

I miss those days when we didn’t worry about things like bills, health and what dish to cook for dinner I wish we had some sort of token when we graduated like those high school rings I came across today while browsing the net.

It’s been 5 months since I gave birth to Sean and I am still carrying around this extra kilos with me. There are times that I feel really depressed especially when I need to go out and none of my old clothes fit me. I keep wearing the same clothes that I can still fit in and are stretchable. I can’t go on a diet yet because whenever I skip a meal or replace a meal with fruits, I would wake up from hunger in the middle of the night which is not so good given that I hardly have enough sleep the last couple of weeks. I read from a magazine about colon cleanse, have you tried this and did it help you lose weight?
