Kids grow so quickly that it’s almost unbelievable to see how fast old clothes pile up, making for messy closets and little storage space. Here are a few tips on how you can make money off of your kids’ clothes when they no longer fit.
Hand-me-downs. This is a no-brainer if you have more than one child. Passing clothes down among siblings is the easiest way to save money and make use out of things that one of your kids has outgrown or no longer likes. However, even if you don’t have multiple kids, consider friends, cousins and neighbors that might be able to benefit. If you’re expecting your first child and registering for baby clothes, keep in mind that this is a great reason to register for neutral colored clothing – it’s easier to reuse!
Try eBay or Craigslist. With a good washing, there’s no reason strangers wouldn’t be interested in your kids’ old clothes, especially brand-name ones that they know are of good quality. Package them up into a big lot of “2-year-old shirts” or “5-year-old t-shirts” and you may be able to sell a good chunk of them in a short amount of time. It’s not a bad idea to take the money you make off of the sale and pick up some cheap “new to you” options on the same sites.
Set up a swap. One fun idea is to set up a clothes swap over dinner or drinks where you and a few girlfriends exchange clothes that you no longer want or need. You can do this for your own clothes as well as for your kids’. Not only can you save money and get rid of things you don’t need, but it’s also a nice way to get together!

Consignment stores & seasonal consignment sales!! Especially “lucrative” when the clothes you want to sell came from consignment. It’s like “renting” the clotbes. My daughter’s wardrobe for the last 3 years has been made up from approximately 90% consigned purchases.
The other day, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iPad
