Hungry for Seafood

by Jade on January 5, 2009

On my trips to the Philippines, I make sure I eat lots of seafood. Why? In the Philippines you can buy fresh seafood in almost every wet market and it is not expensive at all. I especially like tilapia, lobster, milkfish, shrimps and crabs. You can cook these ones in so many ways. You can fry them, cook with coconut, grill and so many more.

When I was living in the Netherlands, my girlfriend Marlene would always give me a call to share a crab feast with her. It is always fun to eat with somebody. Ah those are the good old times. The thought of crab is making me hungry and miss my friend of course. I am thinking of cooking a seafood dish sometime this week.

If are already salivating too with the thought of yummy crabs and would like to cook some crab dishes, make sure that you keep condiments to a minimum because the crab itself is already so tasty. The crab should be the focal point of your dish.

Eating fresh seafood is a great way to increase your consumption of amino acids and not to forget the essential fatty acids. But for women who are trying to get pregnant like me, keep in mind that you must avoid fish that has high mercury levels like king mackerel and shark.
