Today is the first time I join the World Blog Surf Day which is organized by Sher of Czech of the Beaten Path. I am glad I found out about this, I think it’s a wonderful way to travel without even living your own home.
Moving to Singapore was like going to candy land for a self-confessed Foodie like me. Singapore is sometimes dubbed as a Foodie Paradise, Eating is considered one of the national past time here. That’s true, go to a food court or hawker and you will ALWAYS see people eating.
When we came here more than two years ago, first thing we asked my husband’s colleagues and locals we met was, “What food should we try here?” The most popular recommendation we received was for the Chicken Rice. And it did become one of our favorite dishes. We love it so much we eat this at least once a week. Chicken rice is a like the National Dish of Singapore – you can find it everywhere may it be street corner coffee shop or even at chic hotels in Singapore. You shouldn’t leave Singapore without trying this!
Chicken rice is a simple dish where the rice is cooked in ginger and other spices while the chicken is either roasted or steamed. I just remembered that this is also a common dish in Thailand where it is called khao mun gai . So to my Thai Expat friends, you know who you are do try them out, ok?

Some of the favorite Chicken Rice stalls we have tried:
Parkway Parade Banquet Food court
Eastcoast Park Lagoon Food Center
Lucky Plaza Food Court
Chatterbox coffeehouse at the Mandarin Hotel
We also discovered Nasi Briyani – Nasi briyani is a typical Indian meal. The rice is cooked with various spices and is eaten with chicken, prawn or fish.

Where can you eat this:
Changi Village ( Our Favorite )
Most of the foodcourts in Singapore
RoastDuck Noodle – I love this! I love this! I am amazed how this dish is just so yummy. I wrote about this here.

Last but not the least, we have the Laksa – this is one dish we cannot live without. I made a post about our favorite Laksa stall, do click the link if you wanna know where to find the best Laksa in Singapore.
Those are just a few of the many must try dishes in Singapore. I can go on and on but there’s just so much variety in Singaporean food, you would never have to eat the same thing in a week or even a month. Singapore is multi-racial and multi cultural country so you will find here all kinds of food: Malay, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai and so many more. I’m sure there are still many dishes that I haven’t tried yet.
Guys, if ever you visit Singapore, make sure you try the dishes I have mentioned above. Do look me up if you need an eating buddy, alright;)!
I’m now going to hand you over to Roz of Life in Australia – A Brit expat living in Australia who is also a participant in this cool event. Let’s see what yummy goodies he will share with us.
Oh and special Thanks to Thandelike who will be twittering everybody’s WBSD entries.

Hi Jade,
Great food you have exampled here. Chicken and rice can’t fail it is good or great always.
Can I make a simple suggestion, ditch the stupid “right click” javascript alert, sure “It’s not cool to copy” but what about opening links in a new “tab”, window, etc?
If you honestly think some stupid script will stop anyone copying then maybe you shouldn’t be publishing anything online!
BTW, your websites pretty kewl, my wife enjoyed it very much but it was annoying her so much she couldn’t follow links in a new “tab” she gave up.
Jade, your post gave me the kick in the pants I needed to finally try one of the Singaporean restaurants we have here in Vancouver. I’d heard good things about them but never got around to trying one – now I will make a point of going!
