Wordless Wednesday: The Bee and the Passionfruit flower

Check out my other WW entry at Pictures and Cultures and other participants at 5 minutes for Mom and at the WW hub

I am trying my hand on photo editing, I looked up photoshop and saw that there’s a free trial so I went for it. I downloaded it and have been playing with the pictures I have taken recently. The passion fruit flower photo was taken at the Desaru Fruit Farm – a fruit farm in Malaysia we recently visited.

I must say I am loving Photoshop CS4 but it’s so expensive :( and that’s making me really sad. I guess I need to find something else to use when the trial expires. Do you have any recommendation on any photo editing software that’s cheap or free? Please let me know on the comments below:)

Very cool shot and effects. Have you ever tried GIMP? It’s a free photo editing software, but it’s not free because it’s low quality, it’s free because it’s open source.

I wish I knew of a program you could use because you did a wonderful job with this! I can’t believe you edited this, it looks amazing! Just a thought, sometimes the expense is worth it when its something we love and are gd at =) Take care!

@ Ms. Latina – Thanks! I didn’t do much here actually. Just made it b&w and brought back the color of the subject.

I have used many different programs over the years. You did not say what operating system you are running so I’m going to assume Windows XP or Vista…

Software: Google Picasa
Comments: It does a pretty good job provided you do not trust the “I’m feeling lucky” button too often. :) Cost: Free
URL:http://picasa.google.com/

Software: Paint.NET
Comments: It does a great job with pretty much everything.
Cost: Free
URL: http://www.getpaint.net/

Software: Corel Paint Shop Pro X2
Comments: Everything you could possibly want but the interface take some getting used to.
Cost: About 100 USD

Software: Gimp
Comments: This has some very powerful scripts and tools but the learning curve is very steep.
Cost: Free

@ Mr. Muskrat – I will check these software out. I do have Paint.net too – maybe I need to look how I can use it better.

Gorgeous picture!

Did you find photoshop user-friendly? I always found the older versions difficult to figure out.

@ Run DMT – Thanks;)!

Photoshop …I am still trying to find my way around it. It’s not exactly really user friendly but I am gonna try to check some books on photoshop tutorial. Maybe then I could make use of it better.

Wow, that’s an amazing shot! You really have a good eye! Thanks for your comment on my blog. I also think crafting a little gift to brighten someone’s day is a great idea. It need not be expensive and you can choose any craft you like!

Jade,
You’re welcome. Good luck with the determining which software suits your needs.

BTW, I just realized that I didn’t actually comment on the photo. Nicely done. I have tried this before and it never really came out right. After seeing yours, I think I will give it another go soon.

Beautiful photo! I too am toying with the idea of purchasing photoshop. The only thing stopping me is that it is so darn pricey.
