Chingay parade happens every year around the Chinese New Year. It is the grandest parade in Asia and since this is our last year in Singapore, I decided now is the time to witness it.
Traditional dragon and lion dancers seize the parade grounds by storm! Cover your ears as you marvel at the crackling Chingay’s FIRST pair of Fire-cracker dragons!
The were about 7000 performers from 5 countries like Bhutan, Indonesia and Japan. The parade performers are from all ages and they were all magnificent, about 60,000 people attended this event.

We were thrilled by waves of colours, glittering floats and high energy moves by the performers!
Chingay 2010 was spectacular! It was worth every dollar we paid. We’re glad we went there.

That is really awesome having a big parade like that. In San Francisco, we also have our Chinese New Year Parade which showcases spectacular floats. I never go to one because of the traffic and loud firecrackers.
I have heard of this event for many years and yet to witness it myself. Well, one day may be. This is your last year in Singapore? Where you off to?
You should definitely see it once in your life.
I will be moving to the Philippines in June:P, it will probably the last I will move

hey! those were gret pictures. i like the kung fu panda part too, i never got to watch a real parade here in the philippines since the chinese new year was a sunday and we were busy with church and other meetings. the closest we ever got to celebrating it was watch ragon dancers as they “carol” to obtain angbao from chinese businessmen and buy tikoy in eng bee tin. but this photos are really wow, thanks for sharing
