While living in Holland I learned to drink wine socially. I am not really very crazy about it but they do drink a lot of wine in parties and we did have a lot of parties back then. In Europe there are lots of good quality wines available. If you go to the supermarket, you can easily buy a good bottle of Chardonnay, Merlot or Chenin Blanc. I prefer sweet wines myself but I hardly drink anymore. Yeah I know…I am boring!
In Holland when you visit a friend or family it is kind of customary to bring a good bottle of wine. Europeans love their wine, almost everybody had a wine rack in their home filled with wines from different countries weather they bought it themselves or given to them as gifts.
When storing wine for some time, you’ll have to make sure that the wine is in a safe place. There are several ways to store wine, but using a wine rack is still the best. The best type of wine racks are the horizontal ones. Unlike what most people think, vertical racks aren’t a good choice for storing your wine. If the wine is stored on vertical racks, the cork will dry out and eventually start to shrink, bringing air into the wine and ruin it eventually. Vertical racks however can come in handy when storing wine that is best consumed right away.

Yes! Red wine!!! A good bottle of Barolo!!!! Wine is so sickeningly expensive in Singapore. The person responsible for fixing prices for alcohol in Singapore should be stoned to death! ….no lah, only joking.

I love my wine! Although drinking it over here doesn’t help the bank balance.
It’s a good thing that you’ve cut down on drinking…I should follow suit.

@ Angie – yeah that’s their way of preventing people from getting drunk and running amok. They should really do that too in the Philippines.
@ TrailingS – no especially with the economy crisis, we might need to tighten our belts a little;)
