River Hong Bao 2009

by Jade on February 9, 2009

I am glad I read about the River Hong Bao being held at the Marina Bay when I visited ECL’s blog about two weeks ago. I know this post is way overdue but better late than never right ?

The event was held on Jan 24 to Feb 1. This was the first time for the River Hong Bao to be held at the Marina Bay and I am glad I was there to witness it. It was a great time to practice and make pictures with my new DSLR.

The atmosphere was so nice! There were so many lanterns and Chinese displays of the Chinese Zodiac Animals. And of course the not to be missed – God of Fortune who sprinkles lucky numbers on  a piece of paper at intervals which you can use to bet at the TOTO – a sort of lottery here in Singapore. I wonder if any of the people who tried to catch these numbers had any success with winning in the said lottery.

There were also nightly performance but we were not able to see it really well because the stage was quite far from where we were standing. I wish they didn’t have any divider so that everybody could enjoy the show.

They will most probably do it here every year because in my opinion, (aside from not being able to watch the show) it was a huge success.

That last shot was so greatly captured. One of the nice things about bloghopping is that you get to read upcoming events in your area.

My weekend snapshots are posted here and here. Have a great week ahead!

@ Angie – Hi! Welcome back!!Hope u had a wonderful time in Sabah.

Ohh I thought yesterday was the last day of CNY.

That’s weird that you don’t see my EC – maybe your pc is blocking it? I can see it all the time and I also get drops from others.

You have a DSLR? Wow.

I’m glad you like the River Hongbao celebration. I was there for 9 nights.

I brought my nieces and nephews who helped me picked numbers from God of Fortune. I just realised I struck 2nd prize! I’ll blog about that. :D

Hi Jade,

Yes, my daughter has been based in Singapore since 6 months ago. (Prior to this she was based in Jakarta teaching for an international pre-school.)

Good she was here for the Christmas holidays but had to be back there by January 3 because work started on Jan 5, I think :-)

Just like you, I am sure she got to see and enjoy it. With her SG based friends.

Thanks for always taking the time to drop by my blogs.

Cheers!
