Last year I witnessed for the first time Thaipusam - an Indian celebration, in honor of Lord Subrahmanya who represents virtue, youth and power and is the destroyer of evil. A few days before the procession itself, there will be stalls on Serangoon Road.
This event is really something, a very fascinating festival to watch but not for people with weak stomach. We might go and watch it this weekend again as we have some visitors…I think it will make an impression on them. If you are also in Singapore, and would like to see it, check the details below:
What : Thaipusam
When : 30 Jan 2010 (annual)
Where : Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple
cost: Free
How to get there : Take the MRT to Farrer Park Station and follow directions to Temple.
