Bahay Kubo ( Nipa Hut )

Bahay Kubo

Talking about living in the farm makes me sing this song:

Bahay kubo, kahit munti
ang halaman doon ay sari-sari
Singkamas at talong
Sigarilyas at mani
Sitaw, bataw, patani
Kundol, patola, upo’t kalabasa
At saka meron pang
Labanos, mustasa
Sibuyas, kamatis
Bawang at luya
Sa paligid ligid
Ay maraming linga

ENGLISH VERSION:

My nipa hut, although it’s small
The plants are diverse
Turnips and eggplants,
Long Beans and peanuts,
String beans, edible pots, lima beans,
White melon, gourd, white pumpkin and squash,
And still there are more, radish, mustard,
Onions, tomatoes, garlic and ginger,
All around are lush sesame plants.

Wow, looks like a great place to relax and take it easy after a hard days work on the farm , and maybe you should record a clip of you singing that song and post it on you-tube for us to hear . I know you will be happy when you can live there full time and get away from the big city and kick back and enjoy your life in your dream home , I’m happy for you . Malcolm

I am not sure if my comment went thru.. Anyways, this was a great post of yours. I miss our simpler life in the province when we did actually had our Nipa hut, no electricity, no TV, no phone, no nothing. we were happier..
