Designing our House

by Jade on March 24, 2009

One of the tasks we need to prioritize when we go to our summer break to the Philippines is meet with our architect. We have been corresponding through emails about the design of our house but it’s not very easy. You really have to be there face to face and tell him what you want.

It is fun to plan your dream home and have the say in all the details. For the house we are going to build, cit must have an open living space – meaning we will not have rooms. It will be totally open except for the bathrooms and the walk in closet ( like the one in “Sex in the City” ). Yes I insist that I have a walk in closet and looks like I am gonna get it;). I am very easy to please you know.

The exterior design would be a mix of Asian and modern. I am sorry I cannot show you the design or any picture yet till it has been built but I assure you it won’t be your typical Philippine native house.

We will be incorporating solar energy into the design – it won’t be cheap but we think that in the long run this will be very beneficial not only for us but for the environment as well.

We aim to have a green and unique home, who says you cannot have it all? ;)

Will this be a holiday home or a place where you retire with your hubby when you hit 65? :-)

Building your own house could be very stressful. When we had ours built in Switzerland, we had to shop for little things like handle for the kitchen closet and big item like a bathtub. Oh boy, it got so boring in the end…good luck Jade!

@ Angie – This will be our future home where we will live the rest of our lives but we hope that we won’t have to wait till I am 65. That’ a loonnng time.

Designing and planning is the fun part but I am sure it would be a lot of work and stress for me ….but I am sure it would be worth it.

Oo nga I heard from our architect that they are closed – hit by recession maybe? LOL
