In the Philippines, going to college is a big thing. If you came from a rich family attending college or university might not be a problem for you. But for many parents, it is a struggle to pay for the tuition of their kids and all the other things students need to have like books, uniform and allowances. If only student loans were available everywhere, I think more people can go to college. Unfortunately this type of loan is still not very popular during my college years.
At that time, my mom went abroad and work really hard just to support us but her salary was still not enough for me to go to college without worrying if I can pay for the next semester. I tried working part time too but the schedules were
Now life is way easier. There are so many ways to get education, you can get online college degrees which is easier and cheaper. You can study from the comforts of your home and that will save you a lot in transport money and uniform ( Oh man I hated our uniform!).

Why is it that you’re not good in Tagalog? If you were raised through college years in the Philippines, what did you speak there? Other dialect? Just wondering.
@ Karin – I am not really very bad in Tagalog but I find it easier to think in English most of the time.
The Tagalog grammar is very complicated:) I can speak it fluently, but writing in Tagalog hmmm maybe not so good.
