Vacation Timeshare

I have never heard of it till we came here to Singapore. We just got here when we came across a girl who wanted us to join a sort of raffle where we have a chance to win dining vouchers and etc. Well it was a Saturday and we didn’t really have much planned on that day so we went along and picked a raffle. And guess what we won some dining vouchers but we had to claim it at the office at the mall. And it turned out that we could also win a a weekend stay at some resort if we spend 30 minutes listening to a sales pitch.

So I convinced hubby stay a little while. The salesperson did his sales talk and hubby ask some questions. The salesperson didn’t convince him and so we decided that we have heard enough. We didn’t want to go to the same type of places all the time when we go on vacation and plus I won’t know where would I go to sell my timeshare if the time comes that we didn’t want it anymore. It was just for us. The salesperson was quite unhappy when we left but hey they cannot force us to do anything.

Hi Jade,

In Europe timeshare has been around for a long time and got a very bad reputation. The chance of free items are, as you discovered, a bait for a very high pressure sales pitch. Many more gullible or vulnerable people fall for the high pressure tactics. Timeshare property is rarely a good deal for the consumer. On recent trips to Bangkok I have been stopped on the street and asked if I wanted free this or free that. Of course in return I have to go to a hotel for a ‘short presentation’. I always politely decline.
