Hey guys! I will be going with the family on a mini vacation tomorrow to Penang, Malaysia. We have already been planning to go on a trip after the Hong Kong getaway. Our schedule for the coming months will be really tight so we thought let’s do it now since there’s a holiday here in Singapore this Friday.

We still have so many places we want to see like Cambodia, Thailand, Japan (me coz he husband has already been here), Korea (me), India (me) but we’ll take it one at a time. So for now we will start somewhere not too far.

We will be staying at a place called Georgetown- sounds really interesting. Just look at this photo, I hope we get to see this while we are there.

I just hope that the weather cooperates with us. I will tell you all about it when or if I have time before we leave for the Philippines….oh gosh such a busy period. I will be away for 5 days so I am surely gonna miss the marce club: Pehpot, Fedhz, Kaye, Niko and of course not to forget one of my man blogger friend Erik :p ( ayan ha minention na kita kahit long time na tayo walang chikahan).

On the third day of our vacation, we we went to Macau. I was so excited about this trip because if you know the korean novela , Boys over Flowers, you might have seen that they did have an episode filmed in Macau, and it was really beautiful.

Okay so if you are going there, I advise you to book/ buy your ferry tickets with Turbo Jet if you are staying in Hong Kong Island – days or week ahead before your trip. We didn’t know that so we ended up having to get up real early because they only had the 7:00 am trip.

We arrived at 8:00 am, pretty early so the tourist information counter was still closed. So we just decided to take the bus and we kinda get lost we almost went to mainland China LOL , it turns out the tourist spot where pretty close to the ferry terminal. Anyhoo, we just took a cab to Senado Square.

Of course when you go to Macau, you have to at least check out the casinos even if you don’t gamble. I was in awe with the extravagance of the design on most of these casinos, and the light fixtures in there are amazing!

Sand’s Casino

There were plenty casinos there but I’d rather not spend my monies there:).

I have a confession to make, we actually ate mostly western food when we where there because that’s what we were in the mood of at that time. And we always eat dumplings and noodles back in Singapore anyway so we thought why not indulge in western food liek Mc Donald’s while we are on vacation.

As I have mentioned in my post on the day one of our Hong Kong trip the sky there was very hazy.We hoped that it would get better the next day and it did.

The second day, we had a beautiful weather. We did a lot of walking in Kowloon and what I have noticed in Hong Kong is that a lot of people still smoke there in public places, they have all kind of cigarettes there, some even smoke electronic cigarettes. It’s actually the first time I have heard about cigarette being electronic . Anyway, it made me wonder, does the number of smokers in a place affect the sky? There must have been lots of smokers there then.

After lots of walking…we ate and waited for it to get dark to be able to witness the Symphony of Lights. But the hazy or smokey sky of Hong Kong was a turn down. Due to this, you don’t really see the beauty of the light show against the night sky. I did try to capture it I didn’t get plenty of good shots.

This is the 2nd day of our Hong Kong Macau Tour. After buying our ferry ticket for Macau the next day, we took the Star ferry to Kowloon. You can also go here by bus or metro but it is a nice experience to ride the ferry.

Kowloon and Mong Kok have the most tourist spots and markets in Hong Kong.

I love street markets because I was born to shop and bargain hunt. Being an entrepreneur I understand that you could always get a discount if you ask for it. And also let me tell you a secret, in most Asian countries, haggling is already expected. They already mark up the prices for you. If you ask for a discount, then they will give in but for sure they still have a profit.

My hubby don’t like to haggle, it’s a man thing I guess but I love doing it. I don’t care if people think that I am the cheapest person on the planet ! It’s just fun! However, I also do choose the people I haggle with, like I don’t haggle on taxi fares when the destination is really far and with food as well.

This is the famous Ladies Market in Mong Kok, Hong Kong. There are lots of other street markets here like Temple Street Night Market, Jade Market, Stanley Market and I am sure many others.

You can find the usual touristy stuff there like t-shirts, key chains, and all sorts of curios. What I sometimes find annoying in shops though is when they don’t put the prices. You would have to go and ask the seller and sometimes when you start talking to the salesperson, they would hardly let you out alive without you spending some money. I wish they have barcode scanner in all the stores.

Oh yeah of course not to forget, you will find lots of the famous fake designer bags sellers here, they will have a sort of brochure where you can choose from. Ididn’t spend time asking about the prices but I had a glimpse of the bags they had there -to name a few, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel, Prada, Juicy Couture and many more.

Some shop sellers are killjoy, they put already No Bargaining, where’s the fun in that right?

Believe it or not, I didn’t buy much stuff, because as I become more mature I learned about saying no to consumerism.

What about you, do you go bargain hunting or haggling? I am curious to hear about it .

Hey guys! so I am back from our 4 days Hong Kong getaway. I am just doing some house work here as the laundry is piling up! If only we can live without wearing clothes.

Anyhoo, let me tell you a little bit about our 7th year wedding anniversary celebration. This is really something I will always remember. It was wonderful!

We left Friday morning for Hong Kong from Singapore at 7:00 am and arrived in Hong Kong at 10 ish am. From the airport we took the easiest transportation to the hotel which is the hotel shuttle. It cost us HK 130 per person ( SGD23 per person). The ride from the airport was about 50 minutes.

The weather was great but Hong Kong’s sky was hazy, very hazy. I thought that we only have that in Singapore. It’s pretty alarming actually to see this happening in several countries.

From the shuttle I saw this cute Hong Kong bus

We stayed at Holiday Inn Express at Causeway Bay. It’s a great location, right next to Times Square. The cost per night is SGD 156. What we like about staying in IHG hotels is that we accumulate points which we can redeem later on for Free hotel stays. In fact, we have done that several times already.

After checking in – we had lunch at the French Vietnamese Restaurant in the hotel lobby. It’s okay but I think if we should eat Vietnamese food, we should just stick to the traditional Vietnamese, not one that is influenced by French cuisine.

After lunch we started to explore and saw many markets and up scale shops.

After walking for a bit we arrived at the the Golden Bauhinia Square where you will see the imposing Forever Blooming Bauhinia sculpture and just behind the scultupe is the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. When we where there they were having a home and living exhibit.

From here you can take a stroll along the the Causeway bay promenade and see the old Saipan boat.

After our stroll we took a city bus tour on a double deck bus, this cost HKD 50 per person.

I wasn’t able to make a picture of the bus but here’s one from the bus company itself , photo found here. With this tour, you would see 16 declared monuments and 10 Grade-1 historic buildings.

So that was our first day in Hong Kong, we did quite a lot I think. While there I wondered if my pregnant girlfriend Pehpot already gave birth to Sati my future goddaughter. I can’t wait to welcome her to the world

Vacation is over and now is time to get back to work. Hubby is also back to work – went to Australia this morning for some meetings.

Before I tell you about my trip, I need to clean up a little bit here. I need to have a system here so I don’t drown with all the tasks that needs to be done online and offline. So I thought of making a list.

To do list for Today:

9:00 – Load the laundry in the washing machine

10:00 - Fold the laundry I washed before I left for Hong Kong.

11:00 – Check my mails, Call the Condo Management to follow up on my complaint ( I’ll tell you about it another time )

12:00 - Quick Lunch of Pasta and Tuna

2:00 – Take out the laundry from the machine and hang it.

3:00 – Work on some online opps.

4:00 – Buy some groceries and get some office supplies at the mall later for my administration.

I hope I can follow this list so I can have more time on working on the pictures I have taken.

Busy busy busy Me!
